Should children see a chiropractor?

Who We Help · answered by Dr. Alan S. Bader, DC — Chiropractic Physician.

The short answer

Careful, honest answer: for specific musculoskeletal problems — sports injuries, posture strain from backpacks and screens, athletic overuse — examination-based conservative care can be appropriate for kids and teens, using very modified, low-force techniques. Claims that pediatric adjustments treat ear infections, colic, ADHD or immunity are NOT supported by good evidence, and you won't hear them here.

Kids are not small adults: growth plates, different injury patterns (a child's 'sprain' can be a growth-plate injury), and different red flags (limp with fever, night pain, and young-child back pain all get medical referral, not adjustment). Any pediatric evaluation here starts with those rules.

The evidence-honest position: musculoskeletal complaints, yes with modification; systemic-condition claims, no — that marketing damages the profession and misleads parents. Scoliosis screening is a legitimate and valuable role (see our scoliosis page for the honest version of curve care).

Parents stay in the room, findings are explained to both of you, and referral thresholds are conservative on purpose. That's what careful looks like.

Your situation has its own specifics — a two-minute call gets you a straight answer for it: (775) 829-7575.

“First time here… Friendly and efficient receptionist, she explained everything in detail. I saw Dr. Bader. Listened to my areas of pain, explained many things and my first adjustment was great. He is also friendly, has good “bedside” manners. They are a hometown health provider.”

YELP REVIEW

“I’ve been seeing Dr. Bader for the last 15 years. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great bedside manor. The office is very well run… Most insurance is accepted and if it’s not, the cash plan is very reasonable. Walk in’s are acceptable and same day appointments are most likely.”
