Disc Herniation

Definition
Inner disc material pushing through the outer wall, sometimes irritating a nearby nerve root. Common on imaging even in pain-free people.
Why it matters to you
Scary-sounding, frequently manageable: most symptomatic herniations improve with conservative care over weeks, and imaging findings alone don't dictate treatment.
